zeppelin-animal conflict

airship ventures, which flies the zeppelin that takes tourists above san francisco, had been including the san francisco zoo as one of its flyover attractions, but apparently it was driving the animals crazy. the animals, specifically chimps and lemurs, "grew frantic, shouting and putting themselves at risk for self-inflicted injuries." i guess it is a big flying orb that casts a large shadow, but its surprising to me that those animals would be so sensetive to something so relatively slow and quiet. seems like fleet week would be exponentially more upsetting.

airship ventures has changed their route, and all is back to normal, but there is a lesson here: lemurs hate zeppelins.

according to the examiner, zeppelin airfare is down to $375 per person, from $500 when they first started operating last year. once they have coach seats for $25 i'm in.
