stuff i learned watching closed-captioned tv at the gym today:

1. tim geithner told congress that if we hadn't bailed out a.i.g. we would be in a butter recession.

2. every time rachael ray makes the slightest sound or movement, it causes [[applause and cheering]].

seriously, i watched this channel for about 20 seconds, and in that little time span there was [[applause and cheering]] when she said the word garlic, then [[applause and cheering]] when she grated the garlic, then [[applause and cheering]] when she suggested that viewers at home use a flat grater to grate their garlic.
